Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 1, 2026 Last updated: May 1, 2026

Life Beyond Vanilla is an educational resource for adults exploring Dominance and submission. Because of what we cover, we treat your privacy as part of your safety. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the control you have over it.

You can read most of this site without giving us anything. You never have to use your real name to engage with our content, our email list, or our community features. We ask for the minimum we need and nothing more.

If you have questions about anything below, contact us at admin@lifebeyondvanilla.com.

Who We Are

This policy applies to lifebeyondvanilla.com (the “Site”), operated by LifeBeyondVanilla.com (“we,” “us,” “our”). It covers information collected through the Site and our related services, including our email newsletter, downloadable resources, quizzes, and any community features we offer.

Adults Only

This Site is intended for adults 18 years of age or older (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, contact us at admin@lifebeyondvanilla.com.

Information We Collect

Information you give us directly

You only share this when you choose to. It may include:

  • Email address, when you subscribe to our newsletter, download a resource, or take a quiz that delivers results by email.
  • A name or chosen handle, if you provide one. This does not need to be your legal name.
  • Quiz responses, if you complete a quiz on the Site.
  • Questions and messages, when you submit a question, use a contact form, or write to us. Please avoid including sensitive personal details you would not want stored.
  • Comments or community contributions, if and when community features (such as comments or a forum) are available, including any profile information you choose to add.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, certain technical information is collected automatically, which may include:

  • IP address (often truncated or anonymized where supported).
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system.
  • Pages viewed, time on page, and referring website.
  • General location inferred from IP address (country or region level).

This information helps us understand how the Site is used and keep it secure. We do not use it to identify you personally.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the Site work, remember your preferences, and understand traffic patterns. These generally fall into:

  • Essential cookies, required for the Site to function.
  • Preference cookies, which remember choices such as a light or dark theme.
  • Analytics cookies, which help us measure how the Site is used (see Analytics below).
  • Advertising cookies, which may be set by third-party ad partners if and when we display ads (see Advertising below).

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the Site work. We use a cookie consent tool, so when required by law (for example, for visitors in the EEA and UK) we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies, including analytics and advertising cookies. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie settings link on the Site.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver the content, resources, and quiz results you request.
  • Send our newsletter and related emails, where you have signed up.
  • Respond to your questions and messages.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site.
  • Understand which content is useful so we can create more of it.
  • Protect the Site against fraud, abuse, and security threats.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your identity or contact information with advertisers. If we display third-party ads in the future, those ad partners may collect usage information through cookies as described in the Advertising section below.

A Note on Sensitive Topics

This Site covers relationships and practices that many people keep private. We understand that simply visiting can feel sensitive. We do not require an account to read our content, we do not ask for information that would identify your interests beyond what you volunteer, and we limit how long we keep what you do share. We encourage you to use a pseudonym and a dedicated email address if that gives you more peace of mind.

Email and How to Opt Out

If you subscribe, we send you educational content, essays, and occasional updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. You can also email admin@lifebeyondvanilla.com to be removed. We process email sign-ups and delivery through Mailchimp, whose privacy practices are described in their own policy.

Third-Party Services We Rely On

We use trusted service providers to run the Site. They process information only as needed to provide their service to us. These may include:

  • Website hosting: KnownHost
  • Email delivery: Mailchimp
  • Analytics: Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC
  • Advertising: Google AdSense and/or other ad networks, and affiliate program partners

Each of these providers maintains its own privacy policy governing how it handles data.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the Site, such as which pages are viewed and how people move through the content. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes information including your device and browser, pages visited, approximate location derived from your IP address, and interactions with the Site. We use this information only in aggregate to improve the Site, and we do not use it to personally identify you.

Where required by law, Google Analytics is loaded only after you consent through our cookie banner. Google processes this data in accordance with its own privacy policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Advertising

We do not currently display third-party ads. In the future we may use advertising networks such as Google AdSense to show ads on the Site.

When we do, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other sites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to the Site and other sites on the internet. These ad partners may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you view. We do not share your name, email address, or account information with ad networks.

You have control over advertising cookies:

Given the sensitive nature of our content, where our ad settings allow it we intend to limit ad serving to non-personalized or contextual ads. When this section goes live, it will be updated to name the specific ad networks in use.

Affiliate Links and Disclosures

Some pages on the Site may contain affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. When you follow an affiliate link, the destination site’s own privacy policy governs any information you provide there, and that site or network may set its own cookies to track the referral. We only recommend resources we believe serve our readers, and a link being an affiliate link does not change what we recommend.

When We Share Information

We share personal information only in limited circumstances:

  • With service providers who help us operate the Site, under agreements that limit their use of the information.
  • For legal reasons, when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or the Site.
  • In a business transfer, if the Site is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in how your information is handled.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose your identity or contact details to third parties for their own marketing. Third-party analytics and advertising partners may collect usage information through cookies, as described in the Analytics and Advertising sections above.

Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Email subscribers’ information is kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Analytics data is retained in aggregate or anonymized form. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to safeguard what you share with us.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

  • Access the information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
  • Data portability, where applicable.

To exercise any of these rights, email admin@lifebeyondvanilla.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom (GDPR)

We process your information on the legal bases of consent (for example, email sign-up), legitimate interests (for example, keeping the Site secure and understanding usage), and legal obligation. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

International Visitors

The Site is operated from New Jersey, United States. If you access it from outside that location, your information may be transferred to and processed in New Jersey, United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Site, you understand that your information may be processed there.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common standard for how sites should respond, so we currently do not respond to Do Not Track signals. You can still manage cookies through your browser settings.

Links to Other Sites

The Site may link to external resources, articles, or partners. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Site grows or as laws change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the Site or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
